Socks

Posted in Knitting on April 8, 2008 by Ezikiel

I’ve been knitting feverishly this last week, on socks, a shawl, and a sweater. What do I have to show for it? Nothin’.

Though my attempts to get all of my projects to align into a coalescing “Finished project” montage of me all happy and smiling holding up of wearing my blocked and beautiful new wardrobe have failed me thus far, I have high hopes. I guess I can’t really blame anybody but myself on this one, I mean, it is all my work that I’ve been doing, and if I keep ripping out everything that I’m not pleased with (those socks were horrible. little cables that didn’t cable, and a “simple” yo k2tog ladder on the side of it. it looked like a floppy broken condom. ) Eventually I’ll have the one project that goes by smoothly, My technical skill of knitting will be far advanced, and I will be casting on socks and then weaving in the ends within a few days! It’ll be astounding.

Then reality sets in, that’s only if I ever have a day off from work. : P

Too much work, not enough…

Well, you name it, and I could put it on the list of “Not enough.” I’ve been trying to finish a pair of socks (Not happening), design the shawl (also going horrible, I don’t want to talk about it) gettign that sweater front done (you, sometimes I’m just hilarious!), or even sleeping.

Yes, while it is true that I’ve allowed myself to come to this, I have yet to see where the the fruits of my labor are comnig into the picture. Perhaps it’s because I don’t get paid until friday? Maybe it’s even that I relish in the self inflicted torture that even the inquisition would look at as inhumane.

Pain, I can’t seem to get enough these days.

On the bright side, I’m going to have monday off (supposedly, anyway) so that I can rest and relax. that means that I will have an entire day just to myself and my knitting, something I haven’t had in over a month.

And, without further ado- the end.

Anything ado about nothing

So, there’s a problem. I’ve spent so much time training myself to be on the night shift that when I have one of insomnia moments, I’m bound to fall asleep on a shift. And, that’s never really a good thing. I’ve got a plan however- drink copious amounts of coffee. Coffee is the ambrosia of the gods, it makes a shift at work bearable, it helps you finish the socks, and it also helps keep the blood brain barie from breaking down due to high cholestorol.

Who doesn’t want some coffee?!

Now, there could be side effects…however nothing seems to shake my firm believe that there can be no worng done by such a delicious thing. (side note, maybe that is why I have such an ego…)

Anyway, I’ve been stuck at the coffee shop all day knitting, ‘m going to go and get a nap before I have to do my Primerica training. :(

Books

I love books. I’ll have to take a picture of my library to prove it (I’m not bitter about the camera taking lame ass gigantic high resolution pictures that have no place being on a website. Not at all).

The books that I like the most are the ones that you take off the shelf, and heft with a mighty “hmph” to the desk to pry open the cover and dive into a world of crazed anarchy where the book takes you. Sadly, none of my printed books do this, only my journals, notebooks full of half crazed, unfinished ramblings my writing and drawings are the hefty ones. Hey, I’ve got an idea! Anyone who wants to come to my house and organize/archive all of those rambling jottings of a mad man wonderful articles, I’ll pay you a dollar! :D

I’ve been listeing to Three Days Grace a lot. If you haven’t heard them, you can see tons of videos of theirs on you tube and such. Hey, if you love them, great! If you don’t, don’t tell me. I know we are all able to express ourselves (sometimes in idiocy, if none of you reading have read some of the forums or comments on some of these things…) but really, I like to think that we all share a love of many things. Don’t ruin it.

In other news, I have my review at work today at 11. I’m kind’ve looking forward to it, actually. It’s like an open forum where I get to be berrated by my boss with all of my short comings, and I get to do the same! I’m pringing the “Things you can do to make me happier” cards from www.knockknock.biz

They rock.
